Even though I don’t eat chocolate or candy, I like to get dressed up and go out trick or treating with the kids.
These unglamorous photos were captured while Bernie the Shih Tzu was getting a bath. “I just hate getting baths and please, don’t take my picture and embarass me” the little guy pleads. Of course all dogs need to get baths. Once a month or so Bernie goes to Karens Custom Grooming in Carlbad for a bath and trim. He has been going there for 4 or 5 years and loves catching up on all the latest gossip from his friends. Karen really helped Bernie before he retired, when he was still doing dog shows. These are pictures of Bernie in between trips to Karen’s when his dad did the scrubbing.
Wow what a busy weekend. We had a couple of visitors staying at the house, Frankie and her friend Jamie. Friday morning I went to Karen’s Custom Grooming for my usual bath and trim. On Saturday morning we all went downtown to the Dog Days of Summer party in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, by Bestawan Pizza where we ate the night before. mmmmm, I get to go and sit on the deck with everyone. Anyway, I met lots of new puppy dogs there and even ran into my best friends Daisey and Elvis. Here are some of the pictures of the Dog Days Event and I hope to see you all there again next year.
Here some video I shot of the cutest puppy contest. Look for more videos to come soon!
Here are some pictures from the Rancho Santa Fe 4th of July parade and community picnic. This is a great event so if you feel patriotic and want to hang around super nice people in a great little town, this is for you. The parade is mostly kids and some adults in old cars or driving the family golf cart or lawn mower. There were some little horses and a Fire Truck too! My humans and I shared a hamgerger and some ice cream. MMMMM There were lots of puppy dogs around so this is a great place to meet other dogs, shih tzu’s like me or whatever you like.
Although I was a full time Show Dog, I always found time to socialize with the people at an assisted living home. They give me a lot of attention, (which I need) and I help them remember things, share their feelings and be needed. I had several birthday parties and Christmas’ at some of the facilities in San Diego and want to give a shout out to all my human friends at the various places and say a big thank you for all the times you petted me and snuck me chicken from your lunch plates. These are pics from some of the places I visit the people at.
This is a photo of the day I won my second, third, no I think it was my fourth major and became a champion. That is my handler Jane Ferguson on the right and the judge Ms Bergman on the left. She has been a judge for a long time and was really nice. Afterward we all celebrated with champaign and went out to eat at a nice Mexican restaurant. It was pretty much the end of my dog show career and I am really enjoying my retirement if you know what I mean.
I took my humans to the La Jolla Cow Parade a couple of weeks ago. There were cows everywhere! I got my picture taken with a lot of them. I really like going for walks in La Jolla. Here are some of the pictures of me with the cows.
Bernie is a male Shih Tzu that belongs to Maria Ricci and Jim Norris. He is a retired AKC champion and his show name is Bernardo Amore Mio. We will post more pictures of Bernie as time allows and would enjoy sharing stories about Shih Tzu’s, dog shows, grooming, horrors from the vet, or anything else dog related. Bernie the Shih Tzu is well known in San Diego and has warmed the hearts of many. He is currently available if you know any cute female Shih Tzu’s that may be interested in breeding.
